You do not see them.
You do not feel them.
And yet, they enter your body every day.
They are the PFAS.
Molecules so small that they slip into a glass of water…
and so persistent that they remain in you for years.
🧪 What are PFAS really?
PFAS are not a substance.
They are a family of over 4,700 molecules created by industry:
- to make fabrics waterproof,
- non-stick pans,
- grease-proof packaging,
- firefighting foams,
- and hundreds of everyday items.
What is their particularity?
A chemical bond carbon-fluorine, one of the strongest in the world.
Result:
➡️ PFAS do not degrade in nature.
➡️ They accumulate in water, soil, living organisms.
➡️ They end up… in our blood.
98% of tested Europeans already have traces of them.
🔬 How PFAS are structured and why they last
Scientifically, PFAS belong to the category of organic fluorinated compounds.
They are molecules that have a very recognisable structure:
- a carbon chain (like a skeleton),
- entirely or partially covered with fluorine atoms,
- and a variable chemical “head”, depending on the type of PFAS

This fluorine shell is almost indestructible:
👉 Fluorine is the most electronegative element in the entire periodic table.
👉 Its bond with carbon is one of the most stable in modern chemistry.
Direct consequence:
- PFAS resist heat,
- acids,
- bacteria,
- UV,
- and natural degradation.
That is why they are called eternal pollutants.
Once in the environment, they can remain decades, move with water, and accumulate in organisms — including humans.
Some PFAS molecules are long (PFOS, PFOA) and remain in the body for a long time.
Others are short (PFBS, PFHxA), move faster in water… but are more difficult to eliminate by filtration.
Why are children more sensitive?
Because they absorb more PFAS proportionally.
And because their bodies are under construction.
PFAS can:
- cross the placenta,
- end up in breast milk,
- disrupt still immature systems.
In babies and children, studies have observed:
- disruptions of hormonal development,
- an impact on the thyroid,
- an increase in the risk of allergies,
- possible effects on concentration, attention, metabolism.
It is not the dose of one day that matters.
It is the chronic, micro-dose after micro-dose.
And in adults?
PFAS accumulate in:
- the liver,
- the blood,
- the hormonal system.
With established links to:
- thyroid disorders,
- weakened immunity,
- persistent inflammation,
- fertility problems.
Once again: it is not abrupt.
It is slow, silent, progressive.
Can we protect ourselves from it? Yes — but not just any way.
PFAS resist almost everything:
❌ to chlorination,
❌ to boiling,
❌ to conventional filters,
❌ to most “anti-scale” cartridges.
But we can retain them with the right technologies:
✔️ Specialized activated carbon
Retains some PFAS, not the smallest.
✔️ Ion exchange resins
Effective for several PFAS.
✔️ Reverse osmosis
👉 The most effective method today
Capable of reducing up to 99 % of PFAS, even ultrafine molecules.
This is what industries use.
And what, on a small scale, allows a family to actually reduce its exposure.
💧 The Atlas solution
Our approach is simple: no promises, just proof.
We measure the water, we explain what it contains, and we install systems capable of removing what conventional treatments let through.
The reverse osmosis we use is today the most effective technology to reduce up to 99% of PFAS, even the smallest molecules that standard filters do not retain.
This is what allows a family to have truly cleaner, safer, more controlled water — without changing their lifestyle.
Because we cannot always control the outside world,
but we can control the water we put into the bodies of those we love ❤️
